Korean Journalism Intern

The Seoul Journal is looking for interns wanting to gain experience in various aspects of journalism / publishing. We are publishing international magazines including Tokyo Journal, one of the most elite English magazine in Japan. We are looking for interns for the online magazine, Seoul Journal. This internship is virtual. You can work from wherever you are located, communicating with us by email and Zoom. The position is unpaid.

Responsibilities

- editing/translation/interpretation (English-Korean, Korean-English)
- social media announcements on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
- following news regarding Korea-related events and recommending stories, arranging press passes, etc.
- requesting interviews with celebrities / subject experts
- attending events for interviewing, information gathering, photographs, etc.
- contacting organizations that can supply content
- contacting organizations regarding advertising/advertorials

Interns learn various skills while completing an internship with Seoul Journal. These skills vary depending on the department in which they have been assigned and in the areas where the magazine's Editor and Publishing Coordinator feel they have the most potential of gaining employment upon the completion of their studies. These skills may include copy editing, taking dictation, transcribing interviews, recording interviews, writing articles, copywriting, taking photographs, operating film and recording equipment, interviewing, supporting journalists and photographers in carrying out interviews, public speaking, marketing, sales, promotions, event planning, strategic planning and the many other skills that are used and qualities that are developed by a journalistic team working for an international magazine. Applicants should have an interest in Korean culture.
