Floral Farming and Floral Design Intern

UPDATE:

Due to COVID-19 all work will be outside at our flower farm for the time being as of June 4th and social distanced at 6ft apart. Some work may evolve into processing flowers and arranging bouquets for pick up at the studio as well. For the time being all of our events and weddings are cancelled- so we will be focusing on the flower farm for the summer primarily. It is hard, hot, sweaty work- but worth it if you really love flowers and want to understand sustainable floriculture better.

Apprentices will be fully immersed in all aspects of Cornelia McNamara Flowers in the city and on the city flower farm, receiving invaluable hands-on experience in floristry, event design and production, flower farming, and running a small business. 

Apprentices will enjoy a creative and interactive work environment, and will be involved in an exciting array of projects i.e. wedding work, editorial photoshoots, developing product design for retail, preparing design decks for events, devising schemes to further CMF's mission to create and promote more sustainable practices in the floral industry.

The goal with this apprenticeship program is to FULLY train candidates in all areas of floristry so they are poised to either join our team, or go on to make their mark in the industry.

The right candidates are tough, smart, and passionate about flowers, floriculture and farming. No floral experience necessary.

The job will consist of fun, high-energy work assisting in the creation of beautiful floral works and transforming environments.

Teamwork, creativity, and improvisation will be employed as well as the ability to work independently on certain projects.

The job will include both studio and on-site work.

Duties of Internship will include:

Clean and process flowers

Work on Flower farm

Planting

wedding

staking

watering

General studio maintenance

Possibility of social media management

Assist floral designers

Prep and clean “hard goods” and materials for events

Assist with on-site floral styling for events

Work quickly and efficiently with team members

Maintain confidentiality of Cornelia Mcnamara Flowers

Adhere to the dress code when on site for events.
