Implementation Engineer Intern (For Credit / CPT / OPT)


About This Job:
Esurgi seeks a highly motivated individual who can apply their problem-solving skills to its flagship products. Interns will gain in-industry experience, hone their engineering skills, and build medical devices that transform the healthcare industry. This position is for either the Biostabilizer or JointSpy product. The Biostabilizer intern must be able to travel to Timonium, Maryland and the JointSpy candidate can be 100% remote. This is a part-time internship that is NOT paid and is available for school credit, OPT, or CPT. Internship will take place from March 2021 through September 2021.

(PLEASE NOTE: For the Biostabilizer team this position is performed mostly from home but will require occasional travel to Timonium, Maryland)

Main Responsibilities:
  • In charge of assigning and managing the weekly tasks of the members of the implementation team
  • Supervise and support the implementation and validation of hardware, inertial sensors, and algorithms to measure the relative angles of joints in 3D
  • Participate in regular strategy meetings to gauge the progress of Esurgi’s products
  • Identify implementation strategies that are fast to put into place and reliable as appropriate
  • Development, implementation, and assembly of a digital biofeedback device
  • Work cross-functionally to complete project objectives
  • Prepare and deliver project plans with milestones, goals, and deliverables to clearly communicate technical status, risks and mitigation strategies for the ongoing project
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues
Minimum Requirements:
  • Lives in or around Baltimore, Maryland and have personal transportation
  • Pursuing or have a degree in or have knowledge of Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of Digital Signal Processing, embedded systems, kinematics, and linear algebra
  • Experience with Arduino, C/C++, and Matlab
  • Self-driven and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Management or leadership skills
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative setting
Skills:
  • Arduino/C/C++ programming and debugging
  • Experience programming code for IMU sensors
  • Knowledge of or experience with Signal Processing and Microcontrollers
  • Electronics testing and assembling (e.g. Soldering, reading schematics, etc)
  • Experience with biomechanics projects
  • Practical understanding of accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, inertial sensors, and embedded systems
  • Basic understanding of biomechanics
  • Proven track record in leading a technical team for an engineering project
  • Experience completing complex product development projects quickly and successfully.
