Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Contributing to the planning and execution of performing arts projects from the outset and through all project stages.
  • Providing support of design, specification and non-licensed engineering services for the design components of performing arts projects including lighting, performance sound, video and communications and performance machinery and rigging
  • Participating in the design and specification of theatre equipment and help plan the building from the perspective of venue operations and production
  • Drafting architectural lighting specifications and drawings
  • Developing and managing specifications, narratives, programs, documentation for performance equipment bid
  • Contributing to the development of venue equipment and construction budgets
  • Contributing to compliance with relevant codes and standards
  • Reviewing documents incorporating theatre equipment for technical compliance with program and specifications
  • Contributing to the integration of theatre equipment in the design of performing arts buildings
  • Undertaking theatre equipment commissioning tasks under supervision of the project manager
  • Candidate must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role
 
Qualifications
 
Required:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, technical theatre or lighting.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Qualified professionals will have good communication skills essential for team-based working, and excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
  • Qualified candidates must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Experience in one or a combination of the following skills: theatre planning and programming, theatre equipment design for performing arts buildings, performance lighting and systems design, performance rigging and stage machinery systems design, theatre performance sound, video and communication system design.
