Co-Teacher

The Early Childhood Program Co-Teacher provides direct care for children of Middle Way House’s Early Childhood Program, Rise and Shine. This role works in the either the preschool or the infant/toddler room—providing direct service, continuing compliance with all licensing standards, and participating in lesson planning to support curriculum objectives.

Position Requirements:
· Willingness to work and grow with a diverse team
· An ability to remain calm and positive in chaotic situations
· An ability to be flexible in a dynamic work setting
· Over the age of 18, with a high school diploma or equivalent
· A desire to be a part of building and maintaining a high-quality program for those who use our programming

Preferred Qualifications:
· Considerable amount of previous experience working with children and/or other forms of direct service/care
· Completion of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Education, Youth Work, Social Work, and/or Psychology

Initial On boarding and Training Requirements include:
· TB Screening and physical
· Initial Drug Test
· CPR & First Aid Certification
· 8 hour domestic violence training
A full list of position requirements can be provided upon request. All of these requirements can be completed after hiring, but must be completed within the first month of working in the program.

Responsibilities:
· Promoting and maintaining the mission and goals of Middle Way House's Early Childhood Program
· Overseeing pick-up and drop-off of children
· Communicating with parents
· Upholding regulations as dictated by licensing, granting agencies, and accreditation programs
· Participating in food preparation and clean up
· Providing direct care for the children
o Changing diapers/helping with bathroom needs
o Feeding children
o Preserving physical and emotional safety
o Interacting one on one with children
o Managing group play when needed
o Offering sleeping opportunities as needed
· Maintaining the physical space
· Promoting routine and consistency in the childcare schedule and care-giving practices
· Creating and implementing educational and social curriculum
· Modeling and reinforcing positive communication and relationships with the children
· Using positive discipline strategies
· Participating in the facilitation of parent communication
· Assisting the coordinator in administrative tasks
· Undergoing regular early childhood related training
· Attending staff meetings and family engagement events outside of regular work hours on occasion
