We're looking for full-time Breaking News Reporter to join the news team at KSL.com.
KSL.com is the most-visited local news website in the Mountain West, where we average 2.5 million news page views a day. We are committed to providing our readers with the latest, most accurate news so they can be well-informed citizens. We also believe that good news is exciting to consume and are committed to delivering an engaging product to our readers. You will be a part of a positive, hard-working team. We love working with self-starting news junkies who pay attention to detail and have great communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A passion for breaking news
- A competitiveness to be first in the market and to seek out accurate, confirmed information quickly
- The ability to write breaking news quickly and accurately
- Solid news judgement
- Knowledge of local public figures and news events
- A commitment to upholding the brand standards of KSL and Deseret Digital Media
Requirements:
- Previous experience writing for a news website (preferably with breaking news experience)
- A college degree, preferably in journalism; although not required
- Knowledge of Associated Press style
- The ability to multitask and work under pressure
- The ability to work quickly and meet deadlines
- The ability to find solid, timely story pitches daily
- The ability to work well with others on a team
- A drive to innovate and improve
You must be able to show examples of creating strong online journalism. Please attach a link to a professional or personal page you've created that includes a story with embedded video, images, a social post and something interactive.
