Saturday Counselor in Special Needs Recreation Program

Stepping Stones is a community impact organization that has been serving individuals with disabilities in Greater Cincinnati since 1963! Our popular Saturday Kids and Saturday Young Adults Clubs operate throughout the school-year on a scenic Given Campus in Indian Hill.

These social recreation programs provide the opportunity for children, teens and young adults to socialize with their peers while staying active, enjoying the seasons and having fun.

As a Saturday Club Counselor, you will gain leadership skills while engaging participants in art, nature, music and other seasonal activities. Counselors ensure a safe, inclusive atmosphere while supporting participants.

WHEN WILL YOU BE WORKING?
The Saturday Club season operates from September through April.
  • FALL 2023: Twice a month with two shifts - 8:30 am - 3 pm and 2:30 - 9 pm
  • WINTER & SPRING 2024: Weekly from 8:30 am to 3 pm

GAIN EXPERIENCE IN:
  • Planning and executing adaptive recreation activities for multiple ages with disabilities
  • Enhancing different forms of communication skills -- i.e. ASL, visual and devices
  • State and local documentation -- reporting progress on participants' personal goals
  • Leading and supervising participants and volunteers as part of a collaborative team
  • Providing an inclusive space that supports participant needs and celebrates all levels of ability
  • Critical thinking, adaptation and problem-solving skills
  • First Aid & CPR Certification at no cost to you

COMPENSATION: $56 per shift

WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be a minimum of age 16 or above. Age 18 with a high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete all background check requirements
  • Ability to complete all online and in-person trainings
  • Ability to lift up to 50 LBs per day
