Career Hub Peer Educator (Fall 2023 - Spring 2024)

Description & Responsibilities
 
The O’Neill School Career Peer Educator position provides a unique opportunity for you to gain extensive hands-on training and experience within an innovative career center. Our Peer Educators will staff our Career Studio drop-in hours, working with O’Neill School students as they explore career options and develop their career materials.
 
As a Peer, you will develop transferable work-related skills such as communication, advising, counseling and presentation skills, in addition to leadership and teamwork experience. All Peers will assist students with their career-related goals through the use of Career Hub resources, presentations, and coaching services. You will also contribute to the career services program by helping our team plan and market events, develop blog posts and resources for our website, reach out to alumni and employers, and provide other program support as needed.
 
Students selected to be Peer Educators must commit to the program for the entire 2023-2024 academic year for up to 10 hours/week.
 
You will receive thorough training, including:
·        Online Training Modules AND a 30-hour in-person training in August
·        Regular Career Studio meetings during the semester
·        Observation in the Career Studio
 
All training is mandatory so that you will feel prepared and confident for every part of your job.
 
General Responsibilities:
·        Advise students in the Career Studio regarding career topics including: career exploration, resume/cover letter writing, networking, internship opportunities, job search and general career questions
·        Deliver workshops and conduct outreach presentations on career topics
·        Participate in Focus Career Fairs and other employer events
·        Conduct outreach and marketing activities to various student groups and units in O'Neill
·        Introduce students to resources in the Career Studio and on the Career Hub website, including joining Career Communities
·        Complete additional career-related projects as directed
·        Provide administrative and office support as needed
·        Attend regular Peer staff meetings
