Tripp Lake Camp is looking for a baker for the summer!
Tripp Lake Camp is a summer camp in Maine serving 600 campers and staff throughout the summer season.The baker will work in tandem with the cooks, Executive Chef and the Food Service Director. We are looking for a dynamic candidate who wants to be a part of transforming our food service into a culinary powerhouse. We would like to hire someone who will have a calm and pleasant demeanor and who has a passion for making great food. Have a good attitude, work hard and show up on time.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Manage the daily operations of the camp’s food service by overseeing:
⬥ Preparation and cooking of food as the menu indicates.
⬥ The baker will have experience in a production environment. This person should be well organized and participate in a 15 - minute culinary meeting daily which is organized by the Executive Chef.
⬥ Consistent 1-1.5 day’s prepped ahead of fresh bread and bakery items.
2. Ensure routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment.
⬥ Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas.
⬥ Train international staff on servesafe practices. (This will be a constant process with an inexperienced staff)
⬥ Supervise the cleaning of prep areas and serving stations
⬥ Reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as indicated through the camp’s procedures.
3. Work as a member of a food service team.
⬥ Coordinate schedule and job tasks with the Executive Chef, cooks, dining hall manager, and kitchen assistants.
⬥ Assist with supervising or directing the work of the kitchen assistants and support staff
Physical Aspects of the Job:
⬥ Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds including unloading food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
⬥ Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior.
⬥ Physical ability to operate kitchen equipment according to safe, recommended methods.
⬥ Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).
⬥ Ability to provide first aid and to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
⬥ Determine cleanliness of dishes, food surfaces, and kitchen area.
⬥ Ability to assess food quality, taste, and yields
⬥ Ability to work spilt shifts 7-10am, 11-2:30pm, 4:30-7:00pm - 6 days per week
