Store Design Internship

Store Design Intern
Summer 2024 - 90 day internship
Location: Fort Wayne, IN - Onsite
Level: Intern
Division / Department: Marketing/Store    

About the Role:
As a Store Design Intern, your primary goal will be to develop conceptual intent for a category or department within our stores, creating an engaging "store within a store" experience. You will collaborate with our Market Research and Merchandising teams to gain insights into the target audience's preferences, buying behavior, and market trends related to the products or brands that will be featured in the designated area. Your creativity, strategic thinking, and collaboration will be essential in crafting innovative store designs that enhance the shopping experience for our customers.


Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with Market Research and Merchandising teams to understand customer preferences, buying behavior, and market trends.
  • Develop a scalable concept for a "store within a store" experience that aligns with the current Signature Store Design environment.
  • Present visual representations of the store design concepts.
  • Document the thought process behind each concept to assist with potential implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and guidance on the design direction.
  • Explore opportunities to work with our signage and millwork vendor to develop cost-effective design solutions.
  • Actively contribute creative ideas and insights to enhance the overall store design strategy.
  • Assist in any other store design-related tasks as needed

 
Education and Experience: 
Currently pursuing a degree in Retail Design, Interior Design, Visual Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.

 
Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong passion for retail design and a creative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp)
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who can take initiative and drive projects forward.
  • Knowledge of retail industry trends is a plus.
