Gas Compliance Team Lead

About the Role

Seeking a collaborative individual to lead a team of at least three Regulatory Specialists and reports to the Manager of Safety & Technical Services. This role is responsible for ensuring KUB meets or exceeds regulations related to the operation and maintenance of a natural gas utility. Natural gas regulatory compliance and safety are foundational to KUB’s environmental and operational excellence as recognized by APGA and other industry organizations. This individual works closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, operations, construction, etc.) to develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and best practices with the goal of ensuring employee and public safety. Oversees Operator Qualification, public education, Distribution Integrity Management, and emergency response programs. Provides technical assistance to employees, customers, and contractors. Collects and analyzes compliance data and submits regulatory reports. This role requires the individual to have a continuous improvement and quality management mindset, excellent written and oral communication skills, a commitment to high quality customer service, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Physical Requirements

Works primarily in an office setting, but field visits and field activities may be required. These field visits may include: emergency response activities and support beyond normal business hours, heavy lifting or strenuous work and mobility over rough terrain. Requires bending, stooping, lifting, and working in awkward and strenuous positions at times. Occasionally requires above normal mental and visual alertness.

Minimum Requirements

● Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline from an accredited college or university
● Ability to direct the work of others, work effectively in a collaborative/team environment, and effectively manage change initiatives in a timely manner
● Program management skills including defining requirements, developing and implementing procedures, developing metrics and KPIs, and evaluating effectiveness
● Experience with Microsoft products (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint)
● Have and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred Requirements

● Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Industrial Management, Public Policy, Public Health, Compliance/Audit, or Environmental Sciences
● Experience leading & managing others
● 3+ years’ experience related to regulatory compliance preferably in the utility industry including operational aspects of natural gas distribution (49 CFR 192)
● Background in risk management, reliability, safety measurements, and technical writing
