Estes Technology Intern

Job Summary:

As an Estes Technology Intern, you will be assigned to an agile team in one of our technology Hubs that span Back Office/Administration, Operations, Infrastructure & Platform Engineering, Customer-Facing technologies, or Technology Support of our production environments. You will be exposed to various platforms, languages, and data management tools as a part of a team working to solve complex challenges using innovative solutions. Each Technology Intern will be paired with a mentor who will guide and oversee progress to ensure a successful experience for both the intern and Estes. This is a Temporary, Summer Internship position located primarily at Estes' Richmond HQ and lasting from June to August 2024 (maximum of 3 months).   • Effectively interact and communicate with team members and assigned mentor to ensure understanding of requirements for assigned work; ask clarifying questions as needed to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Develop an understanding of Estes’ technology platforms and tools we employ.
  • Participate in agile sessions and collaborate with team members to design and implement solutions that resolve complex technological challenges or create new and unique user experiences.
  • Perform several functions as assigned, which may include development, testing, research, design, troubleshooting, and support. Gain experience using various platforms, tools, and programming languages as required.
  • Understand and follow training instructions and ask for help when needed. Demonstrate strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), and at least 3 years of post-secondary education experience required. Previous coursework in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related area of study is preferred but not required.
  • Must have exposure to or knowledge of technology trends/Software Integrations/Cloud Services/Application Support.
  • Previous exposure to Java, Angular, HTML, Pega, Oracle, or Salesforce preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills preferred
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills preferred
  • Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to interact well with others
  • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
