Essential Functions

25% Under administrative direction, serves as an Internet Information Services (IIS) Administrator, for the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT): 

 

  • Performs complex, professional, and advisory functions in the Midrange Wintel/ Application Hosting Unit exercising substantial creativity and originality to reach the final objective.
  • Researches, plans, installs, implements, configures, documents, maintains, communicates, coordinates in relationship to hardware, software, and operating systems of specified platforms.
  • Develops complex and sophisticated interface functions between software and servers.
  • Reviews and evaluates customer requests to ensure customer needs are satisfied and standards and procedures are met.
  • Approves and documents installations and enhancements.
  • Coordinates complex enhancements and maintenance with the client.
  • Utilizes Microsoft desktop solutions, virtual servers in a VMware environment, ESRI Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software in the performance of duties.

 

25% Conducts and coordinates in-depth studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis: 

 

  • Develops complex written Information Technology (IT) analysis, recommendation documents and implementation plans.
  • Provides complex technical assistance to clients and technicians pertaining to hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Conducts reviews of complex components and processes making recommendations for modifications to provide availability, flexibility, and usability for clients
  • Reviews, creates, and modifies current configurations, tables, and programs.
  • Configures and maintains security requirements on servers.
  • Updates existing processes for installs and develops processes on configuration for the software installed and implemented.
  • Provides monitoring and reporting of software and servers.
  • Develops complex and sophisticated interface functions between software and servers.

 

20% Performs advanced problem diagnostics of complex operating systems and problems:  

 

  • Evaluates and resolves problems.
  • Monitors connectivity and utilizes software to notify of alerts.
  • Resolves complex hardware and software problems and assists in the diagnosis and resolution of system software problems.
  • Administers web-based applications using Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Administers Microsoft Windows Server operating system and Active Directory in an enterprise environment.
  • Confers with vendors to resolve software and hardware problems.
  • Serves as liaison between agency customers and management and technicians for resolution of customer requirements.
  • Monitors trouble tickets to ensure acceptable service levels to agencies within listed time frames are being met.
  • Escalates time sensitive trouble calls to senior staff and/or appropriate vendor for faster resolution time.

20% Serves as project coordinator for full-range major/complex projects, very large hardware/software deployments, and installations across multiple agencies and locations:    

 

  • Determines and coordinates project components such as project scheduling and assignments.
  • Assigns and reviews the work of project analyst staff.
  • Provides expertise, guidance, and direction to staff.
  • Reviews results and incorporates individual components of project into the final product.

 

5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field: 

 

  • Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences on and off site to increase familiarity with and remain current on IT products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.

 

5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1.    Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with course work in computer science or related fields. 
2.    Requires three (3) years of professional experience in computer science, systems services, or related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

1.    Requires three (3) years of professional experience with administration of Web based applications using Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
2.    Requires three (3) years of professional experience in the administration of Microsoft Windows Server operating system or Active Directory in an enterprise environment.
 

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

1.    Three (3) years of professional experience with administration of Web based applications using Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
2.    Three (3) years of professional experience in the administration of Microsoft Windows Server operating system or Active Directory in an enterprise environment.
3.    Three (3) years of professional experience providing problem diagnostics of operating systems and problems.
4.    Two (2) years of professional experience using Microsoft desktop solutions.  
5.    Two (2) years of professional experience using virtual servers in a VMware environment.
6.    One (1) year of professional experience using ESRI Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software.
7.    Ability to coordinate projects including scheduling and assigning project components.
8.    Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
9.    Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others. 
10.    Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to others with clarity and precision.
