SkyWest Airlines

Videographer

July 2018 - September 2019 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

Great people and culture there. There was always new things to learn and the ability to fly wherever you want for free was great.

What I wish was different

I wish I didn't have to pay a yearly fee for the "Free" flights.

Advice

Working for an airline is a really unique experience. As a videographer/ photographer for the company I had the opportunity to really explore the whole company. If you get the opportunity to work for an airline, consider taking the job as it's a great experience.

First Officer

April 2019 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

I get to travel a lot. I spent a night in Helena Montana and it was surprisingly enjoyable. I never thought I'd enjoy engaging directly with customers but it's rather statisfying

What I wish was different

I could of used more time on my overnights to explore local areas. Working on holidays isn't that fun either.

Advice

If you can get past all the background checks it's totally worth getting into.

Airline Captain

October 2013 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

When I’m done with work I can leave it at work, I can’t take any work home with me. I average 12-15 days off a month. Travel benefits for my off days

What I wish was different

Starting out schedules are rough, you will be on a 2 hour call out till your seniority increases.

Advice

Being on the road away from family is hard but is a very enjoyable career.
