Texas Instruments Inc.

Business and Operations Intern

May - August 2024 • Richardson, TX

What I liked

I was given tasks and projects, and I could see in real-time how they were helpful to my team and TI as a whole. I managed different materials and products on a small team. The company culture at TI is different than any company I have worked with in the best way. TI made sure to include BusOps interns in any events being hosted, department overviews, happy hours, etc.

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, whether to your peer or a department lead. At TI, they value your voice and highly encourage you to be curious and engaged.

Analog Design Engineer Intern

May - August 2023 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

The three-month experience boosts up my design skills a lot. In addition, everyone in TI are friendly and happy to answer any questions, even though it's not related to my job. My manager cares about me and always happy to assist me with my projects.

What I wish was different

I would hope the internship period could be longer to accomplish more, such as completing a small block of IC design, taping out a circuit, etc.

Advice

Ask questions whenever needed. For the most of time, asking questions is the easiest way to resolve problems during my internship experience at TI.

Analog IC Design Intern

May - August 2023 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I was treated more like a new hire than an intern. I was able to work on real projects right away and received 1:1 mentoring from my manager. Higher-ups in the company were always more than willing to meet with me to discuss their own personal career paths and answer any questions I might have.

What I wish was different

I wish the company offered spring internships as well.

Advice

Make the most of all the opportunities and events TI hosts for their interns.

Analog design intern

May - August 2023 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I loved the atmosphere. Everyone was very willing and accepting of questions. Everyone at Texas Instruments wants everyone else to succeed and it was a really warm feeling.

What I wish was different

Personally, I should have enjoyed the opportunities that are given to me as an intern. There were events i passed on because I was worried about missing a meeting or getting behind when in reality it wasn't that serious for me.

Advice

ASK QUESTIONS!! people at TI love answering questions especially on their work! not only does it impress your employer and team but you get a lot of information out of it too!

Product Marketing Engineer Intern

June - August 2021 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I really enjoyed my team and the atmosphere that TI creates for their interns. Texas Instruments works just has hard to sell the company to you, as you work on selling yourself to them. They really placed a big emphasis on the mentor and mentee relationship. TI also tries really hard to make the internship as constructive as possible, the program was very well structured.

What I wish was different

Even though the internship projects were well structured and clear cut, there is a lot that goes unsaid in terms of what they want from you. Texas Instruments relies pretty heavily on their core value system, which is both specific and also very vague. A large piece of what makes the experience so valuable is the blunt honesty and constructive criticism. That being said, there will be times when you simply need to know when, what, and how to ask the right questions. This can be very hard when you're unfamiliar with the culture.

Advice

QUESTIONS!! Texas Instruments wants your curiosity. Ask questions about literally everything?

Applications Engineer Intern

June - August 2020 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

My experience was truly amazing. TI worked very hard to ensure that I could effectively do my work and learn how to do my tasks in a remote environment. I was provided everything I needed to effectively succeed as an engineer and I was able to triumph despite being in a remote setting for a normally on-site job. My teammates were very friendly, welcoming, and understanding. I felt that they truly wanted to foster a learning environment where everyone was welcomed and they succeeded.

What I wish was different

My only wish is that the the internship would have been in person, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic this was obviously not safe or viable.

Advice

I encourage everyone to apply!

Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone for a position. I moved 1500 miles away from my family and my life to a new city where I didn't know anyone and I'll be returning there after graduation to do it all again full-time!
